King Of The Track

July 2, 2008

The 2008 Aerospace Components King of the Track will be run off this Saturday, July 5, along with the Drag News All Star Mid-Season Championship and the regular Saturday program. The Aerospace Components King of the Track bonus program is a one-time special event held at NHRA member tracks. Each points class winner in Moser Pro, Moser Super Pro, Moser Sportsman, Wiseco/Cycle Tech Super Bike, and Koffel’s Place Comp have the chance to run for the title. Winners in each of those classes compete in a runoff to see who will take home the title of Aerospace Components King of the Track. The Mid-Season Championship marks the halfway point in the 2008-racing season.

The winner and King of the Track for 2007 was John Boes. John edged out Rick Baehr for the title in a hotly contested race that finalized after midnight. For his efforts, John received an NHRA Wally and a King of the Track hat. The Wally was a first for two people. It was the first one that John ever won, and the first one that Bill Jr. ever gave away. Who will take home the title this year? With the performances we’ve seen from our racers this season, it’s anybody’s guess, but whoever walks away with the prize will certainly have earned it!
